High Chai is our take on a classic afternoon tea, with an Indian twist. Think of everything you love about a tiered stand of sandwiches, savouries and sweet treats, then add spice, warmth and some proper masala chai.
What’s on the stand
Our High Chai for Sunday 15 November is a festive one. Here’s the menu:
Mattar paneer tarts (v): mini puff pastry tarts with spiced Indian cheese and garden peas
Lamb keema samosas: pastry parcels filled with spiced lamb mince
Tandoori chicken sandwiches: tandoori-spiced chicken, grilled and pulled, in soft seeded bread
Chocolate cardamom brownie (v): rich and fudgy, with a hint of cardamom
Mango lassi shot (v): mango milkshake with cardamom
Chilli chocolate dipped strawberries (v)
Masala chai (v, vegan): tea infused with spices such as clove, cinnamon, and ginger
Vegetarian? We swap the lamb samosas for spiced potato samosas, and the tandoori chicken sandwiches for masala sweetcorn, spinach, and cheese sandwiches.
What’s masala chai?
Masala chai is the drink of every Indian home: black tea simmered with milk and spices. It’s warming, a little sweet, and made for sharing, which is exactly what an afternoon tea should be. We roast and grind our own chai spice blend.
