Following the success of Saturdays with Tikki in Bookham in 2020 (thank you!), I’m excited to launch our dabbaClub in the Horsleys. Every Friday from the 13th of June, we’ll cook up a delicious Indian meal for dinner, using lovely locally sourced produce. Your meal will be handmade from scratch, big on flavour, hearty and nutritious.
Keeping things interesting
We’ll have a weekly changing menu. So there will be plenty of variety at your dinner table and a chance to really explore regional Indian cuisine.
Protecting the environment
We’ll do this by:
Reducing food waste - you’ll pre-order, so we’ll only buy ingredients we’ll be using.
Reducing packaging waste - we’ll use a reusable dabba (a traditional stainless steel tiffin box) to pack your dinner. Just like in India! All you’ll need to do is wash it (it’s dishwasher safe), pop it back into the bag it’ll be delivered to you in, and leave it at your doorstop for us to collect on Saturday.
Inside the box
Typically an Indian dabba is packed with a main curry, a side dish, rice and flatbread. I’ll be sharing a weekly mini menu for you to pick from, so it’s entirely up to you what you’d like in yours! You’ll have 4 tiers to fill up, and if you fill all you’ll have enough for 2 people.
How it’s going to work
I’ll reveal my mini menu every Monday morning by email (if you’re interested in menu notifications, please sign up below)
You can place your orders using the online form and it’s first come first served since I only accept a small number of orders each week. The order form closes once my slots fill up
When I receive your order I’ll send you a secure payment link by email or text within 24 hours, and you’ll use that to pay for your order
We’ll drop your dinner off on Friday evening between 6:30 and 7:30pm. We can leave it at your doorstep if no one is going to be at home (you’ll likely need to reheat in this case!)
You’ll leave your washed tiffin box outside for us to collect on Saturday
Prices
You’ll choose from a mini a la carte menu. Typically curries will be priced between £10 and £16. There will also be accompaniment options, and depending on the menu, there may be a starter option. We’ll deliver free to East and West Horsley. If you’re from a neighbouring village, you’re welcome to collect.
Staying safe (this is from Covid times, but we still follow the same safety procedures!)
Safe cooking - we use disinfectant surface cleaners made for the catering industry, disposable wipes and gloves
Contactless payments - you’ll pay from home using a secure payment link I’ll email to you
Option of contactless deliveries and pick-ups - we can drop your order off at your doorstep, and pick your dabbas and bags from your doorstep too - convenient if you aren’t going to be around too
Safe to re-heat - stainless steel is oven-safe (but not microwave-safe) so you can always pop your dabbas into the oven at 180C for about 20-30 mins if you’d like the reassurance of having re-heated
Once the dabbas and bags are back with us, they’ll all be washed thoroughly for use the following week
If any of us feel unwell, we’ll cancel deliveries that week just to be safe
